Geddy has, in the past carried the dubious distinction of a hard-rocking, if somewhat unnatural, high-pitched singing voice. This has matured over the course of Geddy's career into a voice that is more widely accepted outside of Rush's original core hard-rock following, and shines most especially on recent Rush albums such as 's "Vapor Trails", and Geddy's polished solo album, "My Favorite Headache". After their longest break from recording and touring, A highly successful tour brought Rush back to the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to the great anticipation of fans.
Rush ended their tour with their first-ever shows in Brazil, where they played to , fans in three nights. The final performance of the tour was captured on DVD as Rush in Rio , which was certified double-platinum within weeks of its release. Hot on the heels of their triumphant tour, DVD, and benefit performance for , at the SARS benefit, Rush has announced plans to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their current lineup with a celebratory tour. Planned shows include their first visits to Europe since With Rush, released "Feedback", an EP containing 8 cover songs.
This marks the first Rush release wherein the band performs songs other than their own. On this tour, the band performed some of the cover songs live -- also a first for them. It is an authorized biography of the band, written by Martin Popoff.
